The Good News

Last Updated: 2025-10-08
Morgan Stanley and UBS have both reaffirmed their Buy ratings on Chevron (CVX), with price targets suggesting significant upside potential. Chevron's expansion efforts, including a bid to explore natural gas offshore Greece, align with its strategic goals in both traditional and lower-carbon energy sectors. Analysts highlight Chevron's solid dividend yield of 4.3% and robust oil and gas output in recent quarters. (Sources: The Globe and Mail Source: Yahoo Finance)

The Bad News

Last Updated: 2025-10-08
Despite the positive outlook from some analysts, there is significant negative sentiment due to increased insider selling, particularly by Director John Hess, and a recent decline in Chevron's revenue and profits compared to last year. Cullen Capital Management's sale of over 521,000 shares also reflects potential concerns regarding Chevron's stock performance amidst rising debt and lower commodity prices. The stock has been underperforming relative to the S&P 500. (Sources: The Motley Fool Source: The Globe and Mail)
